251218 - My favourite photos of 2025
So far…
On 1st January 2025, I posted a photo and added a caption “Day 1/365”. At the time I didn’t have plan to post 1 photo every day for 365 days, but that’s what it turned out being for a while, and then I stopped. I had put myself under too much pressure to post a “good” photo every day and in reality, I got busy with work, life and working on other peoples photos rather than mine. But as a photographer, that’s a good position to be in.
Going back through the projects and personal work I have completed in 2025, I can see growth in my skills and compositions. I did a heap of Product Photography - something I didn’t plan on doing. I did a lot of Architectural Interior photography. I started out the year doing a lot of Surf Photography, and finished the year doing a lot of Gym & Fitness Photography. Street photography has started to come through; most definitely thanks to getting my Leica Q3 43 (I love this camera). Portraits feature as well.
What I am most proud of is a definition of style. I now know how I want my photos to look, the colours of my style, and I’m not afraid to use Black & White. But this is constantly evolving. I think the biggest thing 2025 has given me is the confidence knowing that I make a good photo and people like the photos I make. But most importantly, I like my photos.
My Instagram post of my favourite photos or 2025 was a difficult shortlist to put together. Having only 20 slides on a carousel made it very hard to choose my favourites (minus 1 for the cover photo). Below is a selection of images from across 2025 that I was choosing from. Some of them aren’t edited, and some are heavily edited depending on the needs of the photo. Some of the photos haven’t been released yet.
Hindsight being 20/20, I may choose different photos for my top 19 today. But that’s the beauty of photography. You find pieces of images that you resonate with and it is always individual.
I hope you enjoy the gallery.
